A poem in Vietnamese by Bạch Diệp
Translator: Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm
Lean out of the window and see
The wind whisking away the fall
The fruit rolling
Children out of breath laughing
The lyric unclear
Fragrant with cake baking
–
The overwhelming yearning scent of cinnamon
Steeped in a kiss of tea leaves
Jubilant sunlight in copious shades flaunting
Atop the old lonely rose bush
–
Ten fingers of fragrant herb
Hiding
The toes beneath the dinner table
Behind the mass of tangled hair
Her childish grin…

MÙA TRÁI CHÍN
–
Chồm qua cửa sổ mà hóng
Ngọn gió đẩy mùa thu
Lăn lóc trái
Bọn trẻ con cười sằng sặc
Một bài hát gì không rõ
Thơm mùi bánh nướng trong lò
–
Thèm chiếm hữu hương mộc quế
Trong nụ hôn sâu của trà
Nắng ầm ào khoe các kiểu
Trên bụi hồng già cô đơn
–
Mười ngón hương thảo thơm
Dấm dúi
Những ngón chân dưới bàn ăn tối
Nàng giữ cho mình sau bờ tóc rối
Một nụ cười trẻ con….
