The blinding rolling waves over the sea

The day wide open spilling, spattered in dried blood

The fervid waves pounding in the decimation of the island

A door snapped open to the wind from the forever

Cosseting each drop of blood in small hands each tiny gem

As time silences the pleading

An island so far away from you

A highland jungle

Howling with resentment imprisoning the wind

The violent noxious dream

The long stormy winter

A bird of prey perched upon the previous night

Dropped a heart so evil

a pitiful sound

a fresh dream whisked away by the wind last night

Howling, pleading

In the dark hallway at the hour of death

An island so far away from you

Ripped apart the flashing changeable sky 

Wings gliding wings flying

Into a period of drifting nothingness

The sinking shadows of an island

Trên biển mù sóng cuộn

Ngày lộng tuôn như máu loang khô

Sóng thảng thốt dập vùi hải đảo

Cửa ngàn trùng gió mở toang

Nâng niu máu rỉ cườm tay nhỏ

Thời khắc câm tiếng nỉ non

Hải đảo xa vời em

Trên miền non cao rừng rú

Gió gào giận khốn tù

Trong cõi mộng hung tàn

Một mùa đông dài bão táp

Đêm qua ác điểu đậu cành khuya

Thả rớt trái tim ác độc

Trong một tiếng tang thương

Đêm qua gió cắp mộng lên non trốn chạy

Rồi gió hú van

Trong hành lang tối ám giờ lâm tử

Thanh Tâm Tuyền (1936-2006), real name Dư Văn Tâm, was a poet, as well as critic, editor, fiction writer, and playwright. He was born in Vinh, moved to Saigon in 1954, emigrated to the US in 1983, and died in Minnesota in 2006. (Source: Wikipedia)
