SMOKE
`
Like the wind? Yep! Dead at the bottom of a river
Clouds? Yep! Decimated mid air . Gone!
The old portrait standing, or sitting somewhere?
While you brag, exposing your belly, protruding button?
The cruelty!
`
Autumn ended in just about the right amount of sunlight
While you talk about the old times
It breaks my heart!
Love. Smoke and mirrors. Remember
Your brew now frothing at the mouth
The colours of husband and children
`
We greeted each other. Not quite like the setting sun
More like one autumn shoved on top of another
The aching lifetimes The Temple of Literature must bear
Demotic script? Han ideogram? Vietnamese? The word love?
`
A moment space, for a taste of longing
The autumn denotes what’s meant to be autumn
The pavement now sweating with dew
Just go. The smoke has now clouded the night.

Bọt bia đã đắng màu chồng với con

Chào nhau. Chưa thể hoàng hôn
Mà mùa thu trước đã dồn thu sau
Nghìn năm Văn Thánh còn đau
Chữ Nôm? Chữ Việt? Chữ Tàu? Chữ Yêu?

Tạm xa, để xót xa nhiều
Mùa thu để lại những điều muốn thu
Vỉa chiều rớt giọt trơn lu
Thôi em về. Phượt đã mù lối đêm.

Bachelor of Arts and Literature at The University of Huế, 1998.
Master in Hán-Nôm, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, The National University of Hà Nội, 2011.
Ph.D. in Linguistics, The Faculty of Science, The University of Huế, 2014.
Currently a resident lecturer of the Faculty of Education, The University of Huế.
