A poem in Vietnamese by Lê Vĩnh Tài

IT’S SIMPLE, IT’S THE ONE BY OUR SIDE
–
no face, nothing but
a crown of flowers
softly scented
–
sometimes there are echoes of us in dreams
verses of poetry
–
sometimes we hear in our dreams
the intimate words of the one by our side
–
did you know that tonight
we’ll light a red candle
the saddest poems
in puffs of smoke
by our side
–
echo of the guitar sometimes
cut short
intimate whispers sometimes so desire
out of nowhere are the falling stars
silent, just there
smoke on the candle
–
it’s simple
it’s the one by our side
waiting for the wind
to redo the button of forgotten memories

ĐƠN GIẢN CHỈ LÀ NGƯỜI NGỒI BÊN
–
chẳng phải gương mặt
chỉ hoa trên tóc
dịu dàng thơm
–
đôi khi chúng ta vang trong mơ
những câu thơ
–
đôi khi chúng ta nghe trong mơ
lời thân yêu của người bên cạnh
–
em biết không đêm nay
chúng ta thắp cây nến màu đỏ
những câu thơ thật buồn
bốc khói
ngồi bên
–
đôi khi tiếng vang cây đàn
đột nhiên tắt
đôi khi muốn nghe một tiếng thì thầm
những vì sao thình lình sa xuống
lặng câm
cây nến còn bốc khói
–
đơn giản chỉ là người ngồi bên
đợi gió
cài lại chiếc cúc áo lãng quên
