they hold up white sheets of paper

the transparency

they took to the streets with the light in their hands

not pickaxe

not bricks

.

Tiananmen, the fallen students under the tank 

30 years later, again the students took their stance

it’s China’s luck when those who have taken to the streets

were young people from a university

not old men with sticks from the slum

the blood of students in white

will wash away the humiliation

.

our students are screaming too

in the pubs in front of giant TV screens

angry and shouting from losing a bet

none of them remember to bring a white sheet of paper

to write their suicide note with a mathematical equation

before flying down to the dorm yard in the middle of the night

họ giơ cao những tờ giấy trắng

đó là sự trong suốt

những người tuổi trẻ bước ra đường bằng ánh sáng trong bàn tay

không phải cuốc thuổng gậy gộc

không phải gạch đá

.

Thiên An Môn, những sinh viên ngã xuống dưới bánh xích xe tăng

hơn 30 năm sau lại là những sinh viên

đó là may mắn của Trung Hoa khi những người xuống đường bước ra từ trường đại học

chứ không phải những ông già chống gậy từ một khu ổ chuột

máu của sinh viên màu trắng

sẽ rửa trôi những điều ô nhục
