I am a single rib bone from your chest

Self-portrait by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

How could you love me
you’re just a man like my father

the day I didn’t want to leave my mother’s womb
my father had already rejected me

can’t you see
open your eyes

I am a single rib bone from your chest
at best
I’m a part of you
without you
I’m nothing

how could you love me
I am one woman out of the 24 women you adore

Adam and Eve
a mere fairy tale
written by a man just like you

  1. This was a brilliant poem 💯👏🙂. It brings up the general subject of the relationship between women and men by incorporating the tale of Adam and Eve in a very unique light that raises very interesting things to think about 👍😄

    1. Thanks, I was just sad and angry when I wrote it because I was born second, and my parents already had a girl they love, and they wanted a boy.. I don’t know why my mother told me that. But, it is typical of Asian families, so I tell myself. I hate birthdays, birthdays means never good enough.. Thanks for the free therapy, ahumm I’m not sorry about the over sharing today.. :))

  2. Awww, I see where you are coming from 👍🙂💙. I did sort of sense those moods when I was reading, but I definitely did not make the personal connections that you revealed, so this I very intriguing to me and I get the point that you were making about feeling underappreciated about what your mom shared with you and how it made you felt 🤗🤗💗💙. But I think she really really loves you and that she is very proud of you 💞🥰🥰

      1. Lol sorry 💙💙. At the time I wrote that comment, I was under the impression that outside of that conversation in which you were unsure about the reason behind that particular revelation, you and your parents otherwise have a great relationship in general, or atleast that’s what I hoped 💞💕🤗🥰.

  3. “We do, I’m just being a spoilt brat. They’ll never read the comments.. Don’t be sorry, I’m sorry for spilling my can of worms on your table .. Happy Sunday yeah! ❤”

Hahaa, don’t worry my friend 🙌🤩😆. I was interested in the poem and there is nothing wrong with sharing a few more details with me to help me better understand where you were coming from. So thank you very much 💙😄🤗🌹
