leaning into darkness

A poem in Vietnamese by Đinh Trường Chinh
Translator: Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm
Art: Đinh Trường Chinh

leaning into darkness
in light of the drifting waves

disappearing into the drifting waves
beneath the celestial sky

reaching into the celestial sky
touching thousands of dissolving teardrops

steeping in the dissolving teardrops
the unthinkable goodbye.

nhìn nghiêng vào bóng tối
thấy những ngọn sóng trôi

tan vào ngọn sóng trôi
dưới một trời tinh tú

với tay vào tinh tú
chạm ngàn giọt lệ tan

nghe trong giọt lệ tan
những chia lìa nghi ngút
