Chế Lan Viên [1920 – 1989] real name Phan Ngọc Hoan, was born in Cam Lo, Quang Tri. At the age of 7, his whole family moved to Binh Dinh, so he used the pen names Mai Linh, Thach Han, Thach Mai. At the age of 17, Che Lan Vien became famous with the work Dieu tan. In 1939, he went to Hanoi to study, then went to Saigon to work as a journalist, and then returned to Hue to teach. Around 1942, he published the collection of literature Vang Sao and wrote the collection of short stories Gai lua. After the August Revolution, he worked for the newspaper Quyet thang of the Viet Minh Central region… In 1949, Che Lan Vien joined the Communist Party of Vietnam. For many years, he participated in the leadership of the Vietnam Writers Association and was a National Assembly delegate for the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th terms.

Choé, Nguyen Hai Chi, born November 11th, 1943, in An Giang, Vietnam, the political cartoonist became famous for his ugly depictions of American and South Vietnamese political leaders, and scathing commentary on the savagery of war. His cartoons were featured in Newsweek and the New York Times. Choé passed away on March 12th, 2003, in Virginia, U.S.A.

Hàn Mặc Tử [1912 – 1940] real name Nguyễn Trọng Trí, Christian name is Peter Phanxico, also has pen names Le Thanh, Phong Tran, Minh Due Thi. He was born in Le My village, Dong Loc district, Dong Hoi province (now Quang Binh) in a poor Catholic family, his father died early. As a child, he lived and attended primary school in Quy Nhon, attended high school in Hue, then worked at the Land Survey Department, was fired due to illness. In 1934-1935, he followed Thuc Te to Saigon to work as a journalist (wrote for Cong Luan newspaper, was in charge of the Saigon newspaper’s literary page), then returned to Quy Nhon. In 1936, he contracted leprosy, had to go to Quy Nhon hospital and died there.

Octavio Paz [1914-1988] là một nhà thơ và nhà ngoại giao người Mexico. Với sự nghiệp đồ sộ của mình, ông đã được trao Giải thưởng Jerusalem năm 1977, Giải thưởng Miguel de Cervantes năm 1981, Giải thưởng Văn học Quốc tế Neustadt năm 1982 và Giải thưởng Nobel Văn học năm 1990.
