A. A. (Alan Alexander) Milne (1882-1956), famous for his stories about Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin, Tigger, Piglet and the rest, was a soldier in the Great War from 1915 to 1919 — including the Battle of the Somme. Milne’s poem “From a Full Heart” was included in The Sunny Side (1921), and prophesies his post-war retiring action from such woods as Delville, High, Mametz, and Trones, to Pooh’s “The Hundred Acre Wood.”
Milne died in England in 1956

Nguyễn Bính (1918-1966) the poet born Nguyễn Trọng Bính, in Thien Vinh village, Vu Bang District, Nam Dinh province, Vietnam. He lost his mother at a young age, learned to read and write at home, and started to write poetry from the age of 13, won the Poetry Consolation Prize from Tự lực văn group in 1937 with the collection of poems called My heart and soul. A committed supporter of the August Revolution, he moved to the resistance base in Đồng Tháp Mười leading a literature and art unit. Later he was editor of the semi-independent poetry magazine Trăm Hoa, Hundred Flowers.

Đoàn Phú Tứ, the poet, playwright, and translator, was born and died (1910-1989) in Hanoi, Vietnam. He graduated high school in 1932 and left halfway through a law degree to pursue a career in newspapers like Phong hoá, Ngày nay, Hà Nội báo, and Tinh Hoa. He was the core advocate at the time for an unconventional literary movement. Đoàn Phú Tứ was a prolific playwright, the stage was his main source of creativity and thus rarely composes poetry, he was also the translator for the works of many renowned Western authors.
