The human mind is an extraordinary thing, it transcends the imagination. It stores our anguish and infinite desire, but will you allow it to be more? I’m pondering the poem Boo wrote a couple of years back. Boo and I have a couple of things in common, we are loyal creatures and we could never write uninspired.
I’m certainly envious of the amazing talent I’m surrounded by every day. I’m human after all, while Boo gets to bounce around in the clouds, I’m grounded in soil and muck, the shit simply gets in between the most unexpected of places. Cate Blanchett Blanchett was asked once where one may find compassion – my vagina! How oddly true, for most of my adult life I found myself dismissive of the fact that I had to exit through my mother’s vagina before I was inducted into the hall of “man”. I say “man” because I can’t be bothered about beating around the bush, hu-man, wo-man, man is so much easier for most of us. Let the man make the decision, let the man be the head of the household. We allowed it because we’re lazy to think for ourselves, we allowed them to abuse our children and our wives, we, as a collective are lazy, the prettier, sweeter sex.
I’m not asking you for any act of kindness or acts of bravery, all I want is a conscious change in your vernacular. Reading and writing were not an activity for girls. Your bars should be filled with equal hot men and women we may all view with equal admiration. Don’t underestimate your wives or your girlfriends, they look just as much as you.
A man like Boo is an advocate for girls, is sweet and kind and soft-spoken, he’s sensitive, I don’t know for a fact he cries, but I am certain he is just as beautiful as those with a uterus. Boo will never think twice about putting his girls first, he’s not bad in an apron, a beautiful person who would never allow his balls to get in the way of what is right and what is justice for any living thing. I’m proud to count him as my friend.
Happy birthday Chinh.
