What’s accidentally revealed in one’s eyes

actions have always spoken louder than words

don’t. don’t say it

be still.

even as shining brilliant stars 

the promises were already broken

upon the tip of the garden post, fireflies

the noctilucent clouds lighting up who’s sad face

hunched over still.

Bachelor of philosophy, and postgraduate of political science and commerce at The university of Văn Khoa Sài Gòn. 

Worked at the Ministry of Transport and Communication, a branch of the General Department of Postal Service of the Republic of Vietnam.

After 1975 worked in the Postal Office for 7 years. December 1981 settled in Montreal, Canada.

The poet’s career span from 1970 to the present day his work has been published in many literary publications. In vietnam: Văn, Chính Văn, Diễn  Ðàn, Khởi Hành, Nghiên Cứu Văn Học, Ðối Diện, Thân Hữu, Xây Dựng Nông Thôn, Ngưỡng Cửa, Nhà Văn. h o l d i n g   b a c k

   [your name on my lips is the sweet silence

                                 . . .an aching scar in my heart]

                                                      đoàn minh đạo

the awakening 

tenderness of a kiss

the chills on fingers in 

an unreachable 

dream

a lingering silky mist, 

the breath of the river

a mere 

moment frozen 

upon anticipating sandy lashes

*

stayed, 

gosh staying put for so long

dependent on what has been set in stone

written 

in the stars

*

[the friends not noted.  constant]

together with you turned a page of endearment

*

the bridge at dusk. water. running still

to people’s shock 

the meaning of it all 

drifting along

*

when and what, 

nothing is worth the bother

the affectionate moments 

in turns 

say their goodbyes

the ungrateful cruelty of dusk

down the walkway someone’s footprints 

a pillar of society. clean hands through the rocks

discoloured scattered sound in every laden step

,

say forgetting be it a lighter heart

carefree. drifting like clouds, hair locks in the breeze 

standing there counting all the different coloured balloons

the hoarse drumming of deadly silence

,

like the inevitability of a coming storm

the godly land of blades

I don’t know and I can’t remember

how the clean slash happened to be there

,

our ungrateful cruelty upon dusk

a heard in a drama of inhumanity

where is the truth amongst the warp rambling souls

whose hair is touched by a touch of grime and dust

những đường cầy kéo chạy thân đi

cột sống.  tay thiêng và mầm đá

vàng gieo âm từng bước nặng trì

cứ tưởng quên đi thân bồng.  nhẹ

tếch.  mây trời tóc bay bay lên

rồi đứng lựa hết màu bong bóng

chiếc lùng tung gõ khan điệu thầm

như cơn sấm lùa dông sộc tới

xứ phong thần của những ngọn dao

tôi không biết và mình chẳng nhớ

vết cắt da ngọt xớt lúc nào

,

chiều bạc ác ta cùng bạc ác

xúm nhau chi những tuồng bất nhơn

đâu sự thật hồn xiêu phách tán

sợi tóc ai dính một chút nhờn

In my solitude stirring

there in a secluded corner the drunken singing

the entire previous day it rained yet

through the gaps escapes the rhythmic yearning

alone

alone

approaching whom amidst the dawn wavering

alone sometimes it’s poetry

singing.

amongst a dusty refuge
