leave me alone
give me room to breathe
take what you need
but take not even the sidewalk
the curve, the words
the letters spinning
all I want in to clandestinely
carve out a small piece of the sunset just for me
please
you won’t be able to see
in the dying light
the last of drop of my seed
at the precipice is a noisy cuckoo’s nest
their cries never cease the pests
my eye
blinded by a stye
all I can do is hop
please spare me a brick
be kind and add a screw or a spring
jump, jump higher now grasshopper
cause a crackle a pop a wave
the pots might be cracked
the crockery may had its day
don’t throw them away
late I might be but it is still my
one bastard grain of rice

Bài múa chóng mặt những con chữ
Tôi đang khắc lậu một tà dương
Bạn không nhìn thấy đâu tia nắng kém cỏi
Giọt tinh gắng gượng tuổi chiều
Bên bờ rào lu loa tổ chim tu hú
Không giây phút nào ngừng nghỉ kêu rêu
Tôi mắc bệnh váng mù mắt đậu lẹo
Đi tới đâu cũng nhảy lò cò
Hãy nhường cho tôi một viên gạch
Để thương tình đặt chiếc lò xo
Búng lên búng cao lên cào cào châu chấu
Để tanh tách vi sóng cuộc đời
Đừng quẳng hết bát cùn tô mẻ
Tôi muộn màng một hạt cơm rơi

A renowned poet, born 1942, writes under various pseudonyms: Hoàng Xuân Sơn, Sử Mặc, Hoàng Hà Tỉnh, Vô Ðịnh…
Hometown: Vỹ Dạ, Huế.

Bachelor of philosophy, and postgraduate of political science and commerce at The university of Văn Khoa Sài Gòn.
Worked at the Ministry of Transport and Communication, a branch of the General Department of Postal Service of the Republic of Vietnam.
After 1975 worked in the Postal Office for 7 years. December 1981 settled in Montreal, Canada.
The poet’s career span from 1970 to the present day his work has been published in many literary publications. In vietnam: Văn, Chính Văn, Diễn Ðàn, Khởi Hành, Nghiên Cứu Văn Học, Ðối Diện, Thân Hữu, Xây Dựng Nông Thôn, Ngưỡng Cửa, Nhà Văn.
