why is the poem
empty inside?
even when it’s weeping
it’s empty
empty
then why won’t it hold more
put up with more
empty comments
as obnoxious as all the greed in the world
or the greed of one person?
and there it is
the silence inside those skulls
tại sao bài thơ
chỉ toàn sự trống rỗng?
cả khi nó khóc
cũng chỉ là sự trống rỗng
trống rỗng
vậy tại sao nó không thể chứa đựng thêm nữa
chịu đựng được nữa
sự trống rỗng của những cái còm
vô duyên như lòng tham của thế giới
hay là của một người?
ở đó, nó
là sự im lặng của những cái hộp sọ

Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm, the blogger, poet, and translator, was born in 1971 in Phu Nhuan, Saigon, Vietnam. The pharmacist currently lives and works in Western Sydney, Australia.
