A poem in Vietnamese by Vũ Trọng Quang
Translator: Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

shy of reaching for someone’s hand
the regret of letting go
the half said goodbyes
the following joy and sorrow
shy of the first kiss
the regret of soft red parted lips
firm embrace and inevitable separation
kisses and flowering sadness
shy of the nights together
deep regrets buried in the dark
the wave begging for a keepsake in a smile
half a draft copy of a soulmate.

I love the imagery in this poem. ❤
Particularly the last two lines.

It took me a long time trying to understand his poetry, I’m not sure what it is, but he is one of those kind people who like to push you into getting a better version of yourself. I guess sometimes, I just don’t want to, but after re-editing his poetry, I’m getting a better understanding and I’m more open to improvement LOL..
