After reading Chinatown by THUẬN, an intense emotional rollercoaster between Paris, France and Hanoi, Vietnam, The Kamogawa Food Detectives takes me to Kyoto, Japan. I’m hit with the memories of the trips I took with the children there, I’m drawn in by steaming broth and hot tea against the icy wind at the end of winter and the start of spring
Sure, the title of the book gives the plot away, but I found myself surprised and immersed at every turn of the page. I was surprised by the fact that I did not touch my intelligent phone with all its distractions. I paused only because my husband’s dental appointment was done.
