There’s not just you in the cosmos
upon the threshold is the fallen moon
settled on the window sill is the evening breeze
into the night. quietly the flowers bloom
There within the cosmos I
an intense ardour in puffs of smoke
gosh the long sad shadow
the pitiful morning flew by
There within the cosmos do you truly exist
a stretch of the imagination
ripping out the blade of time
dying yellow the setting sun
There within the quivering cosmos is you
drawn up in my mind the rolling hills
valleys and untouched waters
the enormity of love in a stream
There within the cosmos short lived is a dream
desirous youthfulness giving much thought to such grey hues
aged old eyes with the soul of a teenager
as sharp as the sound sound consequence
There within this cosmos, this cosmos
as changeable as the turn of a hand
a winter coat pulling up its collar
the sudden curious shifting hunger

Vũ trụ này đâu chỉ có em
nên chi trăng vẫn rớt bên thềm
và gió vẫn nằm trên bậu cửa
hoa vẫn muộn thầm. đêm, rất đêm
Vũ trụ này có lẫn cả tôi
có tình đậm đặc lúc bốc hơi
ô hay chiếc bóng sao buồn thế
buổi sáng bay đi chút ngậm ngùi
Vũ trụ này có em không ta
đường vào tưởng tượng xa rất xa
em bứt cọng cỏ thời gian vội
nhuộm chút vàng hoe của nắng tà
Vũ trụ này xao xác em, tôi
viền kẻ tâm dung tới núi đồi
con nước mênh mang chưa hề đắm
cuộc tình chảy xiết một dòng thôi
Vũ trụ này khát khao không lâu
mà sao xanh tóc nhớ bạc đầu
con mắt lão giả hồn niên thiếu
tinh tường như hệ luỵ nằm sâu
Vũ trụ này, ôi vũ trụ này
lập lờ như trở một bàn tay
mùa đông áo lạnh tìm khuy cổ
chợt bỗng nghe thèm chút lất lây

A renowned poet, born 1942, writes under various pseudonyms: Hoàng Xuân Sơn, Sử Mặc, Hoàng Hà Tỉnh, Vô Ðịnh…
Hometown: Vỹ Dạ, Huế.

Bachelor of philosophy, and postgraduate of political science and commerce at The university of Văn Khoa Sài Gòn.
Worked at the Ministry of Transport and Communication, a branch of the General Department of Postal Service of the Republic of Vietnam.
After 1975 worked in the Postal Office for 7 years. December 1981 settled in Montreal, Canada.
The poet’s career span from 1970 to the present day his work has been published in many literary publications. In vietnam: Văn, Chính Văn, Diễn Ðàn, Khởi Hành, Nghiên Cứu Văn Học, Ðối Diện, Thân Hữu, Xây Dựng Nông Thôn, Ngưỡng Cửa, Nhà Văn.
