On the road of an autumn evening, heavy are the memories of home in my heart
Cutting is the cold autumn sea breeze
Came flying are the clear images of home
Boundless is the endless mountain ranges
The rivers runs banefully without a chance of ever going home
Hán thi – Lý Bạch (李白; Li Bai)
Đêm Thu Nhớ Nhà
Gió thu qua biển lạnh,
Mang theo nỗi nhớ nhà.
Núi chạy dài bất tận,
Nước trôi hoài phương xa?
Mắt mờ trông mây bạc,
Ruột đau ngóng trăng ngà.
Cỏ thơm cành thôi mướt,
Áo chùng sương trắng pha.
Mộng về miền Ngân Hán,
Tỉnh rồi tinh tú sa.
Ôm sầu thương cố quốc,
Ai lau ngấn lệ nhoà!
秋夕旅懷
涼風度秋海，
吹我鄉思飛。
連山去無際，
流水何時歸。
目極浮雲色，
心斷明月暉。
芳草歇柔豔，
白露催寒衣。
夢長銀漢落，
覺罷天星稀。
含悲想舊國，
泣下誰能揮。

Lương phong độ thu hải,
Xuy ngã hương tứ phi.
Liên sơn khứ vô tế,
Lưu thuỷ hà thời quy?
Mục cực phù vân sắc,
Tâm đoạn minh nguyệt huy.
Phương thảo yết nhu diễm,
Bạch lộ thôi hàn y.
Mộng trường Ngân Hán lạc,
Giác bãi thiên tinh hy.
Hàm bi tưởng cựu quốc,
Khấp hạ thuỳ năng huy.

Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm, the blogger, poet, and translator, was born in 1971 in Phu Nhuan, Saigon, Vietnam. The pharmacist currently lives and works in Western Sydney, Australia.
Li Bai [701-762AD] also pronounced as Li Bo, courtesy name Taibai, was a Chinese poet, acclaimed from his own time to the present as one of the greatest and most important poets of the Tang dynasty and in Chinese history as a whole.

There is probably a better translation out there of Li Bai’s poem, I am trying to learn traditional Chinese and it is an up hill trek. One Character at a time. Thank you for the encouragement my friend. 🙂
