FOR ME, I WRITE | Bùi Kim-Anh

Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm in Phuket, Thailand

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Kim-Anh
Translation by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

I’m alive somewhere inside
I want to lose myself in an adventure, I want to escape

the walls stuffed with poetry
to dream beyond the worries

be the embodiment of summer afternoons
an impassioned wanderer

love till it hurts
float away with the cloud till it’s too late

capture another lifetime
take for myself the world alone into poetry

The cold wind | Bùi Kim-Anh

Bùi Kim-Anh

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Kim-Anh
Translation by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

the cold wind delivered us
stayed
echoed by the hot coffee in an alley at the old quarter
the narrow stairs seemingly perched in the air
the vagrant seating
eerie
vehicles chewing up the moments
a familiarity
touched upon
the memories of an old Hanoi

GIÓ LẠNH

.

gió lạnh đưa ta đến đây
trú ngụ
cafe nóng sâu ngõ nhà phố cổ
cầu thang hẹp như treo
góc ngồi lãng du
góc ngồi ma mị
những chiếc xe rỉ nát thời gian
quen cũ
chạm vào nhớ
Hà Nội dáng xưa

A conversation with age | Bùi Kim Anh

Bùi Kim Anh

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Kim-Anh
Translation by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

sleepless nights sleepless mornings
that’s age
age and its irregular memories
a constant grapple with far and gone

age can’t be covered with a layer of makeup
age can’t be hidden behind a pair of sunglasses
the beauty of age I’ve experienced
are smiles on familiar lines and creases

why sigh with regret
when surrounded are growing grandchildren
why must self be consoled
live content with each natural day

night of little sleep replace the days to come
only small meals then more meals in the day
for yourself live since how much left is time
rain sunlight in abundant why the constant fret

sao phải tự mình an ủi

Sunday, May 2021 | Bùi Kim-Anh

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Kim-Anh
Translation by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

days locked up in the public garden
shrubs and trees silent
empty footpaths yearning for the clatter of feet

a small dog perched watching
I’m inside looking out
as the days passed by

I’m old so be told
time has turned its back on me
but by my side
there is always poetry

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Kim-Anh
Translation by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

there’s no bad intent
a late bloomer
a belated love
blatantly obvious
and silent

there’s no chance of ever being
by each other side tonight
the moon hid behind the clouds
Hanoi diffused with sunny showers
there’s no place for a moon
oh infatuated moon
do you not have a single word for this flower
fully bloomed
on the eve of your full moon

too late for a poem
the tea is now cold
the flower unaware
the regret
out of place

RẰM THÁNG BA

có trách gì nhau đâu
một đóa hoa nở muộn
một tình yêu đến muộn
lặng lẽ thôi
biết rồi

có được ngồi với nhau đâu
đêm nay rằm
trăng luẩn quất trong mây
Hà Nội ngày tháng giao mưa nắng
trăng về đâu
vầng trăng say đắm
sao không hẹn lời cho hoa nở
lúc đêm rằm

thơ đến muộn
chén trà muộn
hoa vô tình
ta tiếc nuối
không đâu

How could a leaf possibly be so | Bùi Kim-Anh

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Kim-Anh
Translation by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

countable leaves
rustling on the pavement
rows of naked trees reaching for the sky
as I try to leave a piece of me

merge with the surround
with the tree counting every heartbeat
the quiet notes as light
and as soft as the minutes

changing moments
spring leaves
as it all slows down
whispers of caution

wait for the impending fall of the last leaf
crackling opening of new green buds
strolling slowly along
a leaf could possibly be so…

LẼ NÀO CHIẾC LÁ

ở nơi này đếm được lá rơi
giai điệu xạc xào khô cong lăn trên đường lát đá
hàng cây phơi khung trần trụi phác lên trời
tôi thêm một nét tôi đi bên cạnh

hoà vào không gian
đứng dựa vào cây đếm nhịp tim chờ đợi
nhẹ như hơi thở phút giây
những nốt lặng

chuyển gam đời mới
lá mùa xuân
ở nơi chậm lại
nghe được tiếng thì thầm mách bảo

đợt lá rơi cuối cùng của mùa cây
tiếng nứt vỏ cho mầm xanh non nhú
chậm lại đi
lẽ nào chiếc lá …

Err is the season | Bùi Kim-Anh

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Kim-Anh
Translation by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

Written for no one
Yet still baffled so
Written for sundowns
Sunset absent towns

Err is the season
Err is the wilted rose
Froze in a draw cold
Sold to those that love

A rendezvous nil
That aeon ago
And now still thus so
An ode without love

Written for sundown
Dropped two words abiding
Gone are sentiments
As time hangs passes by

HÌNH NHƯ MÙA ĐÃ LỠ

có viết cho ai đâu
mà bâng khuâng tệ thế
viết cho những buổi chiều
không hoàng hôn trên phố

hình như mùa đã lỡ
hình như hoa hồng ủ
lạnh đông trong ngăn tủ
bán cho người yêu nhau

đã bao giờ hẹn đâu
từ ngày xưa xa ấy
và bây giờ cũng vậy
câu thơ không tình yêu

viết cho những buổi chiều
quên hai chữ chờ đợi
rơi đâu rồi cảm xúc
lững lờ thời gian trôi
