I never regret the choices I make
my decisions
the decisions I make
always leave me standing
alone.

The moment I could discern the tears
in my childhood, I feared
the cloudless sky
and the boundless sea.

How could I
just be me.

The prayers
they abandon me
my husband, my children beyond reach

They left me alone with my shadow
my shadow is always with me
the colours of twilight you see

My shadow
the entombment
of me
