A poem in Vietnamese by Nguyễn Man Nhiên

I love the rain, I love the smell of the rain, like a child I love the rain
sinking my feet into the gutters
I am lost in the rain(through all the mutter)
I’m in a hot air balloon
Dangling in the air above the ground
I could almost touch the moon
Beneath me are the streets paved with possibilities
While the plane overhead(and all that I could see)
Blinks like the twinkle in the wide eyes of a deer
The city is like an open book(I’m a seer)
If you happen to find anything, pick it up
Throw it in the air and give it a new life(and stuff)
And as I jump out of the window like a lost cat in the night
I could see the stars far away in the sky
Shadows of the gardens where the birds are fast asleep

Beneath me are the streets paved with possibilities — what a beautiful poem! This part really spoke to me, partly because I love hot air balloons. But I love the imagery of being so high up in the sky looking at the world below and seeing all the possibilities of life. Sometimes we need to step back to see the full picture.🌌

Great poem!!!! There is a quote you may like on the rain, “Some people feel the rain, others just get wet!” attributed to Roger Miller or Bob Marley. I love it if you think of this in a relationship context. Explains a lot of divorces????Have a great day!! 😊😁💕🌹

I’m not arrogant enough to assume what’s in a poet’s mind yeah.. But, it sounds like I’m going to have to read the poem again, to see what you see. and thank you, you too, have a lovely day. 🙂

I think if you read the first stanza it’s a little clearer. Some people keep the spirit of a child when dealing with rain while others get grumpy! Ha!

😅 true to life that, thanks for the insight. I’ll ask him(the poet), but he’ll probably disclose zilch. 🤓
