A poem in Vietnamese by Trần Thị Linh Nhân
Translator: Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

Tết going home to see my dad’s daddy
on raised dikes through the fields
fragrant scents of the paddies
welcome my every step home

beautiful is my grandpa’s village
Vu Gia river aimlessly drifting
rows of sunflowers neverending
endlessly green at the foot of the hill

vast sunny fields
swarms of swallows in the sky
O my home in the village
as pretty as a picture

QUÊ EM

Tết về quê thăm nội
Được đi trên đường đê
Hương lúa thơm ngào ngạt
Đón bước chân em về

Quê nội em đẹp lắm
Vu Gia lượn lờ trôi
Hàng dương xanh xanh thẳm
Nhấp nhô nơi chân đồi

Cánh đồng mênh mông nắng
Đàn én lượn trời xanh
Ôi quê hương em đó
Đẹp như một bức tranh
