cooler is the air further up | Đinh Thị Như Thuý

A poem in Vietnamese by Đinh Thị Như Thúy
Translator: Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

cooler is the air further up
beneath the sacred fig
mysterious are the heart shaped banana leaves
watchful were the half-opened eyes from above
kind smiles

knowing and not knowing
there and not there at all
hurting and not at all hurting

falling from high heaven
swarms of fresh flowers waiting
for waiting arms

January 2024
