The Odd Journey | Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

A poem in English by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

Trâm và Khánh

What should I wish my mate for life. Him of little words, to even bother about poetry and literature. He quietly does everything for this family, as I talk and talk, talk till I’m in a fit of spitting, but he never complained. I talk just about enough for my family. My family is alike and as different as any other families. Sometimes he and I would laugh and cry – so many brilliant people, one family is still not enough for them. Life still is a long long road, tomorrow has no offer of guarantee. So endure yeah, continue to sit and listen to my never ending constant chatter.
Congratulations on another year Mr.Tran, my mate for life. (The connotation shouldn’t escape – us cell mates for life

🙂

The length of your marriage is a relative term. After some years, have we learnt to tolerate each other? Or, is it the silence of mutual respect and understanding? Isn’t words just amazing! And I’ve not even embark on the topic of love and passion!

Why not?
Even the ham confined, has his day!
Smothered or not by intentions…

Trâm và Khánh

Happiness, contentment, fulfillment, excitement, joy. They are absent when rage is upon me. A simple hug and a cuddle always takes me back to the beginning. (Mr. Tran’s warm extra padding helps)

Trâm và Khánh

Distracted by way ward sounds
Attracted to colours in odd amounts
Enticed by rough edges, soft and round
Sweet fragrances in abundance to be found
Only you are the Rock, keeping me ground.

  1. I love this beautiful photo of the two of you and thank you so much for the piece. I chatter a lot too. I loved what you wrote and as usual I could relate to a lot of what you said. Congratulations!!!
