A BARGAIN | Bùi Giáng

Bùi Giáng by Đinh Trường Chinh

forget about the lost causes, I must
return to the bargain at hand before I die

– Love dear! I call you home
Home dear I say! Love you are my home
now all this banter back and forth
you love stay I’ll go

I beg your pardon: – stay why
if you go I’ll go with you
I am your wife

Bùi Giáng by Đinh Trường Chinh

A poem in Vietnamese by Bùi Giáng

Oh old bare heart
Grasping at the wrong sky
Upon dusk the source of life
Midlife came doodling passed by

Từ giã

Người mộc mạc trái tim cũ kỹ
Vói hai tay bắt lộn vòm trời
Chiều qua mang một cõi đời
Đi về lẽo đẽo giữa đời đi qua.

The pretty muse | Bùi Giáng

When poetry’s beauty is the epitome of cloud nine
The Muse is suddenly cold, not so divine
Hell-raising envy
The desperate solicitation crazy
Dear god, hazy
Since the beginning of time, just as mad

Dusk is but an accompanying fantasy
Absurdly called the looming shadow a dream
I’m back since the end of the moon cycle
In reverie watched you retreat
Your movements consumed by the mist
Looked at me just once, a madman
After some time in worrisome recall
A woman of great beauty, once.
